Contact Materials
Silver is traditionally the most extensively used metal in electrical contacts
due to its corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity
properties. In pure form it is suitable for low pressure contacts demanding
high conductivity.
Operating parameters which dictate other contact pressure, material transfer
or arc quenching considerations are best served by silver alloys with copper,
cadmium or cadmium oxide.
Medium to heavy duty applications may call for the use of silver tungsten
or copper tungsten contact material.
In order to accommodate requirements dictated by economic or substrate bonding
factors, SBA produce a range of silver and silver alloys in laminated bi-metal
materials.
SBA provides the alternative to the frequent problems which arise relating
to the replacement of all forms of electrical contacts. Our comprehensive service
overcomes the common difficulties of:
Contact Refurbishment or Duplication
SBA can refurbish all types of contacts to original or improved specification.
If required, our engineering department will replicate the total contact to client
design specification, or by precise engineering design provided by SBA from samples
provided.
